jodie and i have made love in the presence of others five times since we started dating. twice we had a menage a trois with another man. twice we had a menage a trois with another woman. and once we made love with each other while another couple made love next to us, close enough to reach out and touch their moving bodies.

each instance where we have included other people has been fraught with its own host of ups and downs. no such episode has been free of awkwardness and/or feelings of jealousy. yet all have been exquisitely, agonizingly erotic. when it happens, it's never planned. we're not 'swingers'. things just seem to progress in a natural fashion until, before we realize it, we're naked and rolling around with another person on the bed. i'll look down to see my lover's hand on another man's flesh, or another woman's body spread out before me, and my stomach will give a lurch, like i'm on a roller coaster, just about to plunge. and like a roller coaster ride, it's not an entirely pleasant sensation, but it's an undeniable thrill.

two of the times jodie and i have shared our bed with another have involved the same man: her ex-boyfriend, mike. i know it's probably not all that common to have sex with your partner and her former lover, but it sounds weirder than it actually is. like i said before, things just have a way of happening.
